why is it more sustainable?

Lo Blox is a cube seat/side table made with mycelium.

The composite is grown starting from the byproducts of the wood and agriculture industry and mycelium (mushrooms’ root system), which acts as a natural glue. The resulting material is fire-resistant, VOC-free, and can be composted at the end of its life cycle.

Myceen uses life cycle assessments to measure the actual impact of its products from cradle to grave. This means taking into account their full impact throughout the entire life cycle: from raw material sourcing, to production and transportation, to end-of-life considerations. Thanks to the efficiency of mycelium production processes, the ability of mycelium products to store carbon, and the fact that they are compostable, Myceen products can actually be defined carbon negative.
