kumo

Ōragi

why is it more sustainable?

Kumo is a sofa made with carefully selected and all-natural materials.

The frame is made of bamboo coming from a FSC-certified supplier. The seat infill is made of natural latex, with added graphite to meet UK fire regulations. This latex core is then padded with coir – a byproduct of coconut – and a triple layer of a wool-cotton blend. All covers are made of a 90% wool + 10% polyamide mix and hold an Indoor Advantage Gold label, which certifies interior materials for low VOC emissions.

Bamboo is shipped to the UK (where production takes place) via sea freight only, to reduce the impact of transportation.

No glue is used in construction, allowing for repairs and easy material separation for recycling purposes. With the Ōragi Recirculate program, the company provides extensive support throughout the entire lifetime of its products. This includes repairs and replacement of individual components if needed, as well as a point of contact to recirculate worn/damaged materials responsibly.
